Information For The Sky Hook
The Sky Hook was introduced in 1963 in the august issue of Model Rocket
News. The plans were included, but a complete kit was offered in the new
products section. The Sky Hook was a durable sport rocket, using the
BT-30 that had thicker walls then the later BT-20. The Sky Hook was Estes
#K-8.
The repro Sky Hook is updated by using laser-cut fins. The original balsa
nose cone dimensions and a very close approximation of the body tube
sizes are used. The original rubber shock cord is replaced with an elastic
cord for longer life. The original method of slitting the body tube to anchor
the shock cord has been replaced by a Kevlar cord for greater reliability.
The original balsa motor block is replaced with a paper thrust ring for
greater reliability.
